Grshluk is in a quandry. She knows that she is quite an attractive female, but the young males shy away from her. "Why?" she asks her mother.

The Mother can only shake her head and look down at the girl's slightly over-large feet. The thing smacked of a little bit of troll in one's ancestry.

No goblin, who depend on their stealth in all matters, would marry someone with such large feet. Their children would probably also be so handicapped.

It is not fair, she knows, but such prejudices ran deep. Even her own brother, Grshluk's uncle, had been driven away because of his large feet.

She sets off on her own self-imposed exile, to try and find the uncle she has never met, and hopefully find some peace with herself.
